Drinking Games! What games can we have in a bar?

This is a audience participation post so I am hoping to get a least one comment. Come on be the first to let me know what you think.

What Games do you think would be awesome in a bar?

Why is is acceptable?

What games are not acceptable in a bar and why?

How can we pull it off?

So let me know what you think.

I will definitely have at least two or three drinking games available to play at my bar wherever it may be. I know people say it promotes over drinking and alcohol abuse. But as a beer pong player I knew when to call it quits, and when to push the limits. So beer pong will be available on certain nights. I think on nights when the younger crowd is out and the bar is not super packed beer pong can be a fun game and spectator sport as well.

So help me out let me know of any fun ideas you have and don't forget to follow my blog.

Here's to chasing that first Pint! Bottoms Up.

  1. I think gold fish racing would be a cool thing to have every now and then. But it would most likely get me into some hot water with some animal rights groups if I have it every night. Thanks for the comment. Keep them coming.

  2. As far as games, it depends on if you have indoors or outdoor space or both. If you have a patio space (see comment on next post about my idea for name) then you could set up an occasional corn hole games/tourneys. Darts is always a great idea, but also board games/table games that people remember for when they are kids are coming back in a huge way. This would keep people at the bar, keep it a light and fun atmosphere, and be a place that people think of when they get together with friends, or places that they actively want to take their friends if they come in from out of town (capitalize on the transient nature of the area). Games such as jenga, or even something as simple as shoots and ladders, or Life, hungry hungry hippos, etc. I think beer pong does tend to draw a younger and rowdier crowd, but these other games also aren't stereotypical "drinking games" but still promote that fun atmosphere. "Drinking games" tend to also skew the view that people have of a bar, even if it's just an occasional thing, it could be happening on a night that is someones first visit and could give them the perception that this isn't a place with a cool vibe where people come to enjoy a few and enjoy the local atmosphere of SS but rather a bar where people come to get drunk. You know when to call it quits, but many people don't and it could also set you up for unexpected issues such as having to have additional security or issues with overserving (you have much less control over how much someone drinks). Just my 2 cents :)

  3. Dart's for sure! I have to get in on the dart leagues. Corn Hole is awesome, I am hoping I will be able to get enough space to play. I do like table games but I want to add a few twists. As for beer pong I am getting this reaction from many people. Looks like it may be the occasional college night activity instead of a regular thing. Thanks for the comments it really keeps the creativity rolling and keeps me headed in the right direction.
